Dr. Page and her team have many tools at their disposal to help provide you with the best care possible, but few are more cutting edge than their iTero® Element 5D Plus.
Engineered by Align Technologies, the company that pioneered invisible orthodontics with Invisalign® and that continues to set the bar for excellence in this field, the iTero intraoral scanner allows Dr. Page and her staff to create digital 3-D models of the soft and hard tissues in your mouth. Using a scanning wand, a state-of-the-art computer, and advanced software, they can stitch thousands of images together to create these models in a matter of minutes!
Digital vs. Traditional Impressions
These “digital impressions” are superior to traditional dental impressions – those taken with impression material and trays – because they’re faster, cleaner, and more accurate.
What does that mean for you?
It means less time in the chair, a more comfortable experience, quicker turnarounds on lab work, and an opportunity to really appreciate, micron by micron, what’s really going on in your mouth. These digital impressions and 3D models allow us to more accurately diagnose, and treat, a wide variety of your oral health needs.
An example of a 3D model being used to demonstrate what Invisalign can do for a smile, just one of the many uses of digital impressions!
Given the number of applications – restorative, orthodontic, diagnostic, educational, etc. – you can see why we’re excited, and proud, to have this powerful tool in our practice. If you’d like to learn more, you can explore the links below, or you can ask us personally the next time you visit.
